Original American newsstand advertising poster for The Saturday Evening Post, dated September 16, 1939, featuring a cover illustration by Frances Tipton Hunter (1896–1957). Issued by the Curtis Publishing Company, this large-format poster was designed for display at newsstands and presents a domestic scene of a young boy standing solemnly while a seated woman tends to his knee, capturing Hunter’s sensitive portrayal of childhood and everyday American life. Printed in offset lithography and archivally linen-backed, the poster is in excellent A- condition, with strong color and clarity and no restoration. As a surviving example of pre-war magazine advertising, it reflects the prominence of illustrated covers in shaping American visual culture of the period.
