Original 6 Cylindres Berliet black and white vintage poster. Archival linen backed and ready to frame. The New six-cylinder models were introduced in 1927.
Berliet was a French manufacturer of automobiles, buses, trucks, and military vehicles, based in Vénissieux, outside Lyon, France. Founded in 1899, and apart from a five-year period from 1944 to 1949 when it was put into ‘administration sequestre’, it was in private ownership until 1967, when it then became part of Citroën, and subsequently acquired by Renault in 1974.
Black-and-white posters are a rarity among antiques. The original idea was to catch passersby’s attention in every possible way, and color was an especially important tool in advertising when posters were the only large ads reaching the public. We think that the absence of color actually gives these car pieces a touch of class. They can also be compared to old photographs. Either way, you’re looking at something special.
