The image shows a bounty of freshly harvested food. One of the more beautiful posters produced by the United States Food Administration for the war effort. World War 1 posters were primarily full lithographs, more brilliant and with deeper colors than later offset-printed posters. This could have easily been created for the celebration of Thanksgiving
During World War I when the U. S. government sought to persuade citizens to help the war effort, it turned to a group of volunteer artists for help. Throughout the conflict, the United States Food Administration and the National War Garden Commission encouraged citizens to use food wisely and to produce food at home.
