“He Is Risen” is a rare original American work incentive poster created in 1930 by the artist Elmes and printed by Mather & Company. Although not a wartime propaganda poster, it belongs to the important series of morale and work‑incentive posters produced in the late 1920s and early 1930s to encourage productivity and positive workplace values.
The design presents a dramatic architectural interior with a glowing stained‑glass window depicting the risen Christ surrounded by figures. A beam of light enters the dark Gothic space, illuminating the scene and creating a powerful visual contrast between shadow and color. The composition reflects the inspirational tone typical of early American motivational posters.
Mather & Company produced a series of well‑known workplace incentive posters during the late 1920s.
