Description
Original Clark Gable Across the Wide Missouri Poster 1951 | Belgian Release | MGM Lithograph
This original Belgian release poster for Across the Wide Missouri (titled Au-delà du Missouri), issued circa 1951, features Clark Gable prominently rendered in a bold and expressive composition characteristic of mid-century European film advertising. Produced for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s Technicolor western and printed in Belgium as an offset lithograph, the design combines portraiture with narrative vignettes, including frontier action scenes and figures drawn from the film’s depiction of 1830s American expansion. The artist and printer are not identified. Created for theatrical display in the smaller Belgian format, the poster reflects the distinctive graphic interpretation often found in European adaptations of American cinema marketing. Presented museum linen-backed and in very good condition, it remains a compelling example of postwar international film poster design and Clark Gable-related cinema ephemera.
