Original James Douglas Morrison (Jim Morrison) headstone rubbing by Susanne Griffie (1959 – 2018). Printed on high-quality cotton paper. Each piece is hand-signed and numbered, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity from the artist. Hand-signed on the lower right and numbered lower left.
Jim Morrison was born December 8, 1943, and died July 3, 1971, in Paris, France. He was an American singer, songwriter, and poet who was the charismatic front man of the California-based psychedelic rock group the Doors.
The edition of 1200 is broken down into 1100 limited editions and 100 artist proofs. They are signed and dated October 9, 2006. This limited edition print was created from an original rubbing of the headstone of James Douglas Morrison, lead singer and front man for the 1960s rock band The Doors.
The Morrison family would later give Griffie their permission and blessing to print a limited edition of the rubbings. One of those JDM rubbing ltd edition prints now graces the wall, stage left at the Whisky a Go-Go on the Sunset Strip, where Jim, Ray, Robby, and John became “The Doors”
