Description
Design That Educates & Captivates
This is Charles Anderson at his most inventive—using a skeleton as both a design subject and a vehicle for showing off French Paper Company’s Muscletone quality. It’s clever: what better way to demonstrate precise color registration and print quality than with an anatomical skeleton rendered in six colors?
The Imagery
The skeleton face dominates, rendered in carefully layered green and orange tones with striking outlines. Text fragments overlay the design—partial words in various fonts and colors that seem to dance across the image. “Mouscletone,” “Paris,” “Auton,” “Lysi”—these aren’t random; they’re showing how type and image can interact on quality paper stock.
The Technical Side
Six-color thermography printing on premium French paper demonstrates precision work. Each color sits exactly where it should, creating depth and visual interest. The printing quality is exceptional—you can see why this was made to showcase what Muscletone paper could do in the hands of a skilled designer.
Why It Works
There’s something playful about using a skeleton to promote paper quality. It’s direct, memorable, and it works both as promotional material and as standalone art. The skeleton becomes a universal visual—recognizable, slightly edgy, engaging.
Original & Preserved
Authentic lithograph in very good condition. The colors remain vibrant, the printing sharp. This is the real piece—not a reproduction—created to show clients exactly what they could achieve.
Perfect For
Graphic designers, design history buffs, anatomy enthusiasts, and collectors who appreciate work where technical mastery and creative vision come together.
