This rare original TWA diorama poster promoting Rome, Italy, was designed by Rex Werner, the longtime Art Director for Trans World Airlines (TWA). Created in the late 1940s, the poster features one of Werner’s remarkable diorama compositions—miniature architectural models carefully constructed and photographed to create a dramatic and highly detailed scene of historic Rome.

Trans World Airlines (TWA) was founded in 1924 as Transcontinental & Western Air, originally connecting New York and Los Angeles before expanding across the United States and internationally to Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Under the ownership of Howard Hughes from 1939 to 1961, TWA grew into one of the world’s most prominent airlines.
