Original ” LIDO REVUE BONJOUR LA NUIT CHAMPS ELYSEES BLUEBELLS GIRLS” vintage poster by the artist Rene Gruau. (Hello, the Night). This poster features 30 Bluebell girls at the Lido on the famous Champs Elysee in Paris. Very fine condition without stains, tears, or restoration. Linen-backed. Ready to frame.
The artist Rene Gruau created a series of posters for both the Lido and the Moulin Rouge cabaret in Paris. An artist known by his signature and his monogram signature of just the letter “G” on his artwork.
The club’s 25th anniversary was in 1971. The show was created by Pierre Louis-Guerin and Rene Fraday and directed by Bob Turk, with costumes by Folco. Colorful and flamboyant burlesque image of scantily clad, smiling Bluebell Girls dancing in their flowing white feather costumes and sparkly jewelry, with gentlemen in top hats, black silhouettes behind them, against a dark blue background, the text over the white dress in stylized blue and black letters below. Le Lido opened in 1946, and the Irish dancer “Miss Bluebell” Margaret Leibovici (nee Kelly, 1910-2004) founded the renowned Bluebell Girls dance troupe, which performed at the Paris Lido from 1947.
