Description

This original Ara Va De Bo poster is a charming 1975 lithograph that represents an important moment in Catalan cultural history and in children’s educational theatre. The original Ara Va De Bo poster was created to promote the groundbreaking group of the same name, formed in July 1971 in Barcelona at the Summer School of Teachers within the Asociació Rosa Sensat. The poster features a delightful, whimsical elephant illustration rendered in warm earth tones—a perfect visual hook for attracting young audiences and families to the group’s innovative performances.

Ara Va De Bo emerged from the vision of five dedicated cultural professionals: three members of The Group of Folk Music (Xesco Boix, Jordi Roura, and Josep Maria Pujol), child librarian Núria Ventura, and dance teacher Laura Pérez. Together, they created a revolutionary approach to children’s entertainment, combining songs, dances, and stories drawn from popular Catalan culture and world traditions. Their performances took place in intimate, accessible venues—schools, libraries, and community centers—with a special emphasis on reaching nursery-age children and their families.

The elephant design captures the playful, accessible spirit of the group’s mission: to make authentic cultural experiences available to young people in their own communities. Measuring 18.75″ × 26.75″, this lithograph would have been posted in schools and cultural institutions throughout Barcelona and Catalonia, announcing upcoming performances and workshops.

At a time when mass media dominated children’s entertainment, Ara Va De Bo offered something rare and precious—live, culturally rooted performance art designed specifically for young learners. This original Ara Va De Bo poster is a window into that important pedagogical movement.

This is a genuine, conservation-mounted lithograph on linen backing in excellent condition. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. This is not a reproduction—it is an authentic artifact of Catalan cultural history and children’s theatre heritage.

The artist’s signature on this poster is illegible.   However, the poster’s creation is directly linked to Ara Va De Bo, the pioneering Catalan children’s theatre collective founded in 1971. The group’s commitment to bringing authentic folk music, dance, and storytelling to young audiences made them influential figures in Catalan cultural education. This poster remains a testament to their mission and the vibrant artistic community of post-Franco Barcelona.
